The Sky is Crying

1 min read

The sky is crying, mama.

Big, frozen tears wet the ground.

The sun does not warm the earth,

And tonight, no stars will light the midnight sky.

The sky is crying for us.

As the bright flame of your life

Gutters low.

Our red-rimmed eyes brim shallow,

They have spent their store of tears.

The sky is crying, mama.

There is nowhere left to go.

Huddled round where death looms near,

Holding fast to our grief,

In a dim room with large picture windows.

The sky is crying, mama.

And with it our hearts rend.

For all the times we shared

And those that we planned,

Which will never be,

Gone with a single turn of fate.

The sky is crying for you

And who could blame it?

The grey clouds echo our empty hearts,

And the bitter spring cold chills

The hollow space you left.

The sky is crying,

But there it stopped.

The sun has peeked out

From behind

Its grey curtain of clouds.

Only the sky could cry so eloquently,

And then leave nothing

But a silent memory.

It is time to walk in the cold sunlight.

It is there to light your way home.
